Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid will meet in an all Spanish encounter in the UEFA Champions league first leg quarter final match at the Vicente Calderon.
Atletico come into this match full of confidence as they have not lost in their last six matches against Real Madrid.
Domestically Atletico are struggling to retain their La liga title they won last season as a 2-2 draw against Malaga saw them lose pace at the top of the league as they are now nine points behind leaders Barcelona.
Further concern for Atletico is that if they are not careful they may not even qualify for next season’s Champions league if the likes of Valencia and Sevilla continue winning matches.
This makes the match against Real Madrid important as this may be their only chance of winning a title as well as making it into the Champions league next season.
On their part Real Madrid will take inspiration from last season’s final where they were seconds away from defeat but came back to beat Atletico 4-1 to win the title.
Also Real Madrid seem to have overcome a bad run of form as they won their last three matches and are now two points behind Barcelona in the race for the league title.
Atletico will look towards players like Mandzukic , Koke and Griezmann to help them win the game while Real Madrid will rely on players like Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema to give them victory.
