ABUJA—BARELY 72hours after the House of Representatives, commenced investigations into the centenary city project, chairman of the House of Representatives committee on Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Herman Hembe, has accused immediate past Secretary to Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim of plotting to stall the probe.
The committee had last Friday commenced the investigative hearing on the Centenary City Project, which was conceived by the last administration in 2014 to mark 100years of the amalgamation of Nigeria.
Anyim had last Friday accused Hembe of bias and improper conduct to the Centenary City Plc but Hembe took to his Twitter handle at the weekend, to allege that the centenary city was a fraud.
Hembe had alleged in his Twitter Handle that “What we have seen so far is heartbreaking. Massive fraud.“
A probe into the controversial project, which began last Friday will continue tomorrow, despite the controversy that marked the inaugural session.
It will be recalled that Anyim and former FCT minister, Senator Bala Mohammed had at the opening session called on Hembe to step aside alleging that the FCT committee chairman would not be fair to them.
However, Hembe had stood his grounds and insisted on presiding over the investigations. The exercise will continue tomorrow.
