Most of us eat fish just because it is delicious, most of those who eat it don’t know its benefits. Fish is a very important part of our diet. Eating plenty of fish on a regular basis can help protect you from a range of serious diseases.
FISH MAY HELP PREVENT CANCER: A Swedish study of 6000 men over a 30-year period showed that those who didn’t eat any fish had between double and treble the risk of developing prostate cancer, compared to those who ate moderate or large amounts. Shellfish, such as crab and lobster, also contains selenium, thought to have cancer-fighting properties.
DEPRESSION: It’s been reported that fish can help to ease depression. Fish contains Omega-3 fatty acids, which are believed to raise levels of the brain chemical serotonin. Eating oily fish helps lower the levels of fats called triglycerides in the blood which reduces the risk of heart disease and improves your chances of survival following a heart attack.
Fish oils also help reduce blood clotting and abnormal heart rhythms after a heart attack.
Fish is a good food for diabetic patients as it helps regulate blood sugar levels.
Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish may decrease triglycerides, lower blood pressure, reduce blood clotting, decrease stroke and heart failure risk, reduce irregular heartbeats, and may improve learning ability in children. Eating at least one to two servings a week of fish, particularly fish that’s rich in omega-3 fatty acids, appears to reduce the risk of heart disease, particularly sudden cardiac death.
Fish is a delicious and healthy meal that shouldn’t be avoided.
